Pitch Perfect
Opera star (and Viva client) Sean Ruane — currently wowing the crowds during the Ashes series helped us out when entered the Dragon’s Den this month. Viva had to ‘pitch’ to Dragon Theo Pathitis at the climax of the Many Hands Appeal. It was all thanks to Rossendale’s Got Talent — which raised £3,600 for the new Manchester Children’s Hospital. We were up against three other fund raising ideas.
Viva boss Tony was joined on stage at Manchester Town Hall by actor Steve Cooper and tenor Sean, who were heavily involved in Rossendale’s Got Talent. Sadly we were beaten by a couple of guys who raised nearly £20,000 via a tennis tournament but or pitch was perfect.
It made people laugh in all the right places and we got our message across.
Any Portz in a storm
Viva has a new kid on the block. Michael Portz, 23, originally from Beverley, East Yorkshire, has joined our team as PR account executive.
We’ve rescued him from the tentacles of Octopus Communications in Windsor where he worked across a range of different accounts including: Cisco Systems, Google, Dun and Bradstreet and recruitment company Adecco.
On his appointment Michael said: “Viva is reet gradely.” Well he is from Yorkshire. (Actually he hasn’t got a strong accent which helped in the interview).
Tony Garner, Managing Director of Viva sounded much more professional when he said: “Michael brings some valuable experience with him from his previous role and is a great fit into the Viva team. We’re really excited about the year ahead and Michael’s role in shaping and building the Viva name across the North-West.”
I keep telling him that we’re much more friendly here so please drop Michael an email greeting to make him feel at home — it’s michael@vivapr.co.uk
Blog The Builder
We have a client engaged in a very traditional industry. Maysand is a building company that specialises in restoration and regeneration projects at historic and old buildings and monuments.
Right now they’re the main contractor in the £1.8m regeneration of a park in Lytham and they’re using a blog to keep the public in touch with their work.
It’s a project that will last the best part of 12 months and it impact on various areas of a much loved public facility. Therefore Maysand knew they needed a way to communicate with the public during that time to keep them updated on progress.
It’s not just because they’re nice considerate people — it’s part of the reason why they won the contract in the first place. Maysand had to present their client, Fylde Borough Council with a communication strategy in place as part of their tender document.
The blog has been well received by the client and the public. It’s simple to set up, easy to up date and is a great form of communication in action. Three cheers for blog the builder.
We’re all of a Twitter
You can follow our Viva shenanigans on our daily blog and on Twitter.
Why bother with all that nonsense, I hear you ask. Well social networking sites do work to spread your message to a wider audience.
