Premier League football club, Bolton Wanderers, has used Viva’s in-house copy and feature writing services for their match day programme and members magazine Extra Time for several years now. We produce two features per programme for the club’s communications team.
Strategy
Viva is given unrivalled access behind the scenes at the Reebok, in order to interview members of the Bolton squad and other key figures among the backroom staff. From these interviews we produce features for the club’s in-house publications. Printing schedules are often very tight – a cup match can be arranged at the 11th hour – and the copy needs to be as up-to-the-minute as possible so the ability to write to a deadline is vital. The copy needs to be punchy, accurate and have an understanding of the club's key messages and communications strategy. It combines the passion of a fan and experience of a PR man.
Results
Bolton's matchday programme has become an award-winning one in recent seasons, with Viva working very closely with the communications team to help make this happen. The Viva-Wanderers partnership has looked solid and secure for more than seven years and continues to flourish. So much so that Viva was commissioned by the club to write a book to mark the first 10 years of the Reebok stadium. That was published by Breedon in 2007.
They say
"Viva is efficient and proactive and constantly performs to a high standard. Most importantly, work is always completed on time, which is essential for us. All the information we get is first class. We will definitely continue using Viva in the future."
