Over the last 18 months the board of directors at Lanway have completely re-engineered the business, transforming it from a one-stop shop for IT hardware into a sophisticated IT solutions provider. Previously, the company focused primarily on selling kit into the education market; now it targets SMEs and major corporate organisations, offering cutting edge solutions and services.
Objective
Our brief was to create some noise around the Lanway brand and spread the message that the company is now a completely different beast compared to what it was before the restructure. We needed to get the message across that Lanway now has the capability to offer more sophisticated solutions. As well as selling tin, they also offer a range of managed services, including cloud computing solutions and fully virtualized systems.
Strategy
One of the key planks of our strategy focused on awards. Lanway has invested heavily in staff training and development, which has enabled the board to completely refocus the business. The result is the company now has a far more sophisticated offering than it had 18 months ago. By getting Lanway shortlisted for awards, this gave us a strong platform to get those key messages across. And, of course, everyone loves a winner! Winning any industry award is priceless PR. That third party endorsement dramatically enhances a company’s reputation in the eyes of its target market and also its visibility.
The Result
Over the last 12 months, Lanway’s profile has grown significantly, both locally and nationally. The company scooped ‘Technology Business of the Year’ at the Red Rose Awards in March. Managing Director Steve Ackers was shortlisted in the category ‘Technology Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the EN Awards and, perhaps most significantly of all, the company was also nominated in the SME reseller of the Year category at the CRN Awards – the industry bible for the UK’s IT sector.
They say
Working with Viva is great. They are a dynamic, flexible and fun team to work with. There’s no question the strategic work they’ve carried out on our behalf has put Lanway firmly on the map.
