If you wish to visit or write it's:
90 Bank Street, Rawtenstall, Rossendale, BB4 8EG
OK, so Rawtenstall isn’t Covent Garden. But as a place to work, we think it’s up there with the averagely ok (and considerably cheaper than WC2). We see the world (and his wife) from our attic home and, as it happens, some of our favourite people live or work here too.
Jane Horrocks is from Rawtenstall.
That model lass, Agness Deyn, is from here too — though she was Laura Hollins then.
On top of that, it’s accessible for motorways and other towns. We’re at the end of Bank Street (near the market), above James Trickett financial advisers. Use the side door and press 2nd floor.
So what has Rawtenstall got that Covent Garden hasn't?
Sunday Best
Clothes to die for. Big name designer labels sprinkled with collections by new or lesser known talent, which owner Jan Shutt has rooted out from back street ateliers. Plus Jan’s cool ‘finds’ … Now with SB Diversion on the first floor, it offers something for the uber cool younger set too.
Mirrorworld
A unique and fascinating showroom full of mirrors, from the stunning and stylish, to the wild and wacky. Andrew and his team will give you anything you need. Just don't go in there on a bad hair day — you've nowhere to hide!
Artisan
Rawtenstall’s very first café bar (how cosmopolitan are we?). Nice surroundings, comfy sofas, newspapers, mouth-watering menu (big portions) with well presented food. Clean air too. Just the job for a lunch break or a catch up with mates. Music and comedy at nights — during the day you just have to put up with Tim's one-liners.
Fitzpatricks
Last temperance bar in Britain. Much featured on TV for secret recipe dandelion and burdock, sarsaparilla, black beer and raisin, and blood tonic (really). A treasure trove of weird and wonderful remedies. (For hangovers, try artichoke???? tablets before you hit the bottle). You’ll be truly amazed.
Market Caff
Can’t be beaten for good, old fashioned, down to earth Lancs nosh. Watch out for the winter menu .. broth, hotpot and the like .. or pie and chips. Classy surroundings.
