And yet more people click on the 'Horror' button first than any other. Why is that?
It's because words are very powerful tools. Words create pictures in your mind. Words are emotive. Words are fascinating. Words can make people turn off, or tune in. They can shock, sicken and create wars.
So what is it about the word 'horror' that draws you in from our list? Maybe it's more compelling. Maybe it just stands out amid the ordinary.
The lesson about the attraction of the 'Horror' selection is not that we are all gore obsessed, though that's partly true. The moral of the story is that when you are trying to attract the attention of your reader — in a press release, brochure, blog, or website — you have to make the words you use stand out from the crowd.
