Netflix: Bank of Dave 2 Project

One of the reasons us PR folk get into the business is the thrill of not knowing what the next project could be.

Working with Netflix wasn’t on our bingo card for 2025, but we jumped at the opportunity when we heard they were looking for local expertise to engage with influencers and content creators ahead of the Bank of Dave 2 film premiere… in Burnley.

Our collaboration with Netflix on this project was a natural fit. A previous campaign for Burnley.Social saw us raise the profile of Burnley as a unique, creative and dynamic University town, by telling the stories of the influencers who live in it.

So, when Netflix came knocking, we knew we had the expertise to deliver what they were looking for.

And not even a snowstorm could stop us.

The event took place at Burnley’s Reel Cinema where Burnley’s ‘Bank of Dave’ Fishwick, who the film is based on, made quite the arrival to the premiere, shovel in hand and clad in his wellies to brave the Lancashire elements – an influencer in his own right.

The snow was pushed aside and the red carpet rolled out, where Dave relished the opportunity of Burnley being in the spotlight, on a world stage, alongside well-known actors and local influencers who came along to support, sharing the evening with their thousands of followers and drawing awareness to the film’s launch, from a local level.

And even the creators who were snowed in showed their support by posting about it from home – a real reflection of the community spirit in Burnley that the film celebrates, with their combined posts reaching over half a million followers.

Based on a true-ish story – two years after founding Britain’s very first community bank, Dave, played by actor Rory Kinnear, takes on an even more dangerous and formidable opponent than the big banks – Payday Loan Companies. It’s out on Netflix from 10th January.

Who knows what will be next when the phone rings at Viva…
