Public Sector hat trick for Viva at PRCA DARE Awards
Viva has won the Public Sector award for the third consecutive year at the PRCA DARE Awards North West.
The agency, which specialises in delivering impactful PR for public sector organisations, previously won the award on behalf of Rossendale Borough Council and two impactful behaviour change campaigns – the Check Before You Chuck recycling campaign (2023) and the launch of Rossendale Forest (2022).
Viva’s public sector specialism sees it work alongside local authorities and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) to generate awareness of issues, challenges and successes, give people reasons to change their existing behaviour and craft compelling calls to action to drive change.
It was Viva’s campaign for Blackburn BID’s member ballot – which successfully secured a third five-year term for the organisation – that saw a third PRCA Public Sector award win in three years. The ballot campaign was also Highly Commended in the Digital and Social Media category.

Viva director Lisa Woodhouse, who heads up the public sector team, said:
“We pride ourselves on our Public Sector offer here at Viva – we really understand our clients’ needs and know exactly how to make budgets work harder to deliver impactful campaigns like this.
“We focused on demonstrating the value Blackburn BID had delivered over the past decade to the town centre in order to secure a majority yes vote in the ballot. It means a great deal to me and the team to see this recognised with an industry award.”
The PRCA judges said:
“Great attention to detail and results on a modest budget over three months. Good to see visual engagement from senior BID decision makers that engaged businesses of all types. Great use of content to raise awareness, with the desired results.”
Blackburn BID manager, Catherine Price, said:
“Everyone went the extra mile to ensure we got a great result. I can’t thank Viva enough for all their hard work.”
The PRCA DARE Awards North West took place on Wednesday 12th June – the full list of winners is available here.
