Viva announces charity partnership with Friends of Serenity in its 10th year
Viva has partnered with local baby loss charity, Friends of Serenity, which supports bereaved families at Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre (LWNC), based at Burnley General Hospital.
We held an Apprentice-style challenge for our team to pitch charities that meant the most to them, with the winning team gaining full agency support for its worthy cause in 2023.
The Friends of Serenity team was led by Amy Scott, who wanted to express her gratitude to the charity after her first baby was stillborn in 2019.
Amy’s team developed a PR campaign to support the charity to mark 10 years since Jo Edwards first set up Friends of Serenity following the loss of her own son, Luke, in 2013.
We knew we had to do something special to commemorate the occasion and we’ve been working with the charity to get a special project up and running – a sculpture at Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre at Burnley General Hospital, where we can remember our babies.
In the centre of the garden, a 4m high tree sculpture created by Lancashire artist, Ruth Moilliet, will stand proudly, signifying the space as a calm and reflective spot and the names of our babies will adorn the colourful flowers on the tree.

Our hopes are for this garden to be a space that will provide comfort for anybody who has experienced baby loss, no matter how long ago. Bereaved parents, friends, family, co-workers, everybody will be welcome to use the garden as a place to remember their much-loved babies.
We are naming this project the Tree of Life and hope the garden will become a focal point for Wave of Light memorial ceremonies during Baby Loss Awareness Week each October.
The project will cost £50,000 and we need your help to get there.
