This was the second brick trail Viva has helped Blackburn BID to host, after the PAW Patrol-themed trail in summer 2019, which saw the town ‘rebranded’ as Brickburn.

The Brickosaurs brick model trail – featuring 15 dinosaur models – ran between 20 August to 1 September in 2021, to coincide with the end of the summer holidays. The aim was to engage with local families as they tried to track down all the models on display and complete a quiz on the trail map (available for free as hard copies and on the Experience Blackburn app) for a chance to win a prize.

Still in recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, Blackburn BID took the view to make the trail as accessible as possible. The trail figures were primarily placed in shop windows so they could be viewed without having to enter premises, and also visible at different times of the day.

The trail reached almost one million people during August, thanks to a combination of coverage on social media and in the press, users of the Experience Blackburn app, website visits and influencer coverage.

They said:

“The Viva team was incredibly supportive with the Brickosaurs campaign, being closely involved with the event from start to finish, and delivering an impactful multimedia promotion which meant that Brickosaurs was one of the most successful events we’ve ever had!”
